2010 Michigan Citizen Planner Advanced Academy: Take Advantage of Reduced Rate for the Academy--Ends June 1. 
 
The reduced registration cost to attend Michigan Citizen Planner's annual Advanced Academy: New Decade, New Development, New Actions ends on Tuesday, June 1, 2010. The reduced rate is $110 or $95 for Master Citizen Planners (MCP). After that the cost to attend will be $125 ($110 for MCPs), so be sure to act now and reserve your space today. Registration is available online.
 
A group rate ($20 off per person for the regular and MCP rates) is also available for two or more from the same organization/ municipality who register for the Academy. Two groups have also generously offered to provide tuition and travel scholarships for those who register for the Academy. Michigan's Safe Routes to School is offering $60 scholarships for individual tuition for those who register and attend the "Designing Communities for Walkability" session. The Land Policy Institute is also offering individual scholarships: $50 for tuition/travel. Both scholarships are based on first-come, first-served; only one scholarship per person. This year's event, sponsored by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority and Michigan's Safe Routes to School (SR2S), will take place on Thursday, June 17, 2010, at the Kellogg Hotel & Conference Center on the campus of MSU in East Lansing.
 
The Academy features an inspiring array of Michigan-based speakers to provide hands-on expertise on a variety of key New Economy-related topics, as well as offers skill-building sessions in three tracks: Development Review, Placemaking and Green Development. Speakers include:
The Academy is intended for all Michigan Citizen Planner alumni, local decision makers and citizens engaged in creating vibrant Michigan communities that will succeed in the New Economy. Registration is available online. The fee includes breakfast, lunch, validated parking and conference materials. Master Citizen Planners who attend the event can obtain 0.6 continuing education units (CEUs).
